What is CryoCare?
This is a revolutionary technique developed by Dr. Lambarski to treat chronic and acute foot and ankle pain. Over the past 12 years Dr. Lambarski has performed over 3000 CyroCare procedures and have perfected this technique to achieve unbelievable results. Originally developed to freeze painful nerves it has evolved into a preferred technique to treat multiple painful conditions including neuromas, plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendonitis. This is a simple concept that dates back to Hippocrates and the Greeks who used ice to reduce pain and inflammation in people. After years of research and perseverance we are now able to apply a super-cooled gas directly on a tendon, nerve or joint to freeze away a persons’ pain. This is a simple in office procedure with immediate recovery and no need for stitches or postoperative rehabilitation. This is an FDA approved technique to treat neuromas, plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinitis.
What is so special about Cryocare?
The biggest reason this technique is so successful is by combining multiple medical advances we are able to specifically freeze at a very controlled temperature the exact area of your pain. Dr. Lambarski uses high resolution color ultrasound imaging to visualize your injury and guide the cryoprobe directly onto the painful area and freeze away the pain. One of the many reasons cortisone injections fail is because the painful target tissue is never identified and during the injection cortisone often does not even hit the targeted tissue therefore resulting in failure. Not only does CryoCare find locate and specifically freeze the painful area but there are minimal to no side effects. Ice therapy has been used for thousands of years and is being used every day in professional to recreational athletes. There are now entire centers devoted to whole body cryotherapy to speed recovery and help injuries heal faster.
What to expect with your visit
A thorough history and physical examination will be performed by the physician. Next, the doctor will order and perform any x-rays or diagnostic ultrasound imaging that is necessary. All treatment options including surgical and nonsurgical will be thoroughly discussed with the patient, going over advantages and disadvantages. Finally, if you are a candidate for CryoCare this can be scheduled as the patient desires. The procedure is performed in our office surgical suite under a simple local anesthetic. The patient can walk out with their current shoes immediately. No postoperative pain medication is necessary other than Tylenol or a simple ice pack for the first 1-2 days. We recommend refraining from running exercises for 48 hours after the procedure. There is no need to stay off the foot other than avoiding high impact activities for the first 2 days. We do make accommodations for patients who travel a long distance. We can reserve extra time at their first visit to perform CryoCare if this is indicated.
